Champions League Overview: Matchday 3

Matchday 3 is in the books and the groups have been shaken up a bit. We are halfway through the group stage which means that teams only have the remaining three games to push themselves in the top two of their groups in order to qualify for the round of 16 knockout round. Here’s what happened over the past two days.

Porto 2-1 Club Brugge: Porto grabs a much needed 3 points, gives them reassurance of qualifying for the knockout round.

Tottenham 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen: Not too much in this game, more chances for Chicharito and Leverkusen but a good away point for Spurs.

Dortmund 2-1 Sporting CP: Aubameyang stole the show, Pulisic, the 18 year old American, starts again for the German powerhouse.

Leicester City 1-0 Kobenhaven: The reigning EPL champions continue to sore in the champions league, 3 wins out of 3 for the Foxes.

Dinamo Zagreb 0-1 Sevilla: They do what they do best, grind out results and play defense. Well deserved three points for Sevilla.

Real Madrid 5-1 Leiga Warsaw: Not a chance for Warsaw, Real Madrid pile 5 goals and don’t look back. 5 different goal scorers for Los Blancos.

CSKA Moscow 1-1 AS Monaco: Moscow let the game slip away from them. Monaco ties it late and both teams will take a point in Group E.

Juventus 1-0 Lyon: Juan Cuadrado comes off the bench and scores a terrific goal seconds later. The old lady wins again.

Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Benfica: The Portuguese giants are getting results without 18 year old wonder boy Renato Sanches. The look good, keep an eye out.

PSG 3-0 Basel: PSG have been shaky to start the season, but goals from Di Maria, Cavani, and Lucas carry them through PSG.

Barcelona 4-0 Manchester City: Messi decided to put on yet another show and score the first 3 goals in the 4-0 win. Bravo gets sent off after a horrific mistake, and Neymar avenges his penalty miss and gets on the score sheet.

Besiktas 3-2 Napoli: The Italian giants gave up 3 points to the Turkish side in a mediocre fashion. Well deserved from the Turkish side.

Atletico Madrid 1-0 Rostov: It might not be pretty, but Madrid continue to play the stellar defense that they are known for. 1-0 wins still gets you three points.

Celtic 0-2 Monchengladbach: Disappointing from Celtic who were at home. Borussia showed up and wont give up in the “group of death.”

Arsenal 6-0 Ludogorets: Hat trick from Ozil and goals from Oxlade-Chamberlain and “in form” Walcott to easily beat Ludogorets and put them atop their group.

Bayern 4-1 PSV: PSV tied it 1-1 before halftime, but Bayern Munich showed up the second half and they win easy.
