I am back! Yes, its been awhile. This thing called life hit me like a ton of bricks and I just haven’t been able to find the time to write. Nonetheless, I am here. I am sorry that I have been absent, I know you all LOVE reading my soccer articles. I mean cmon, its soccer? Nobody cares.
While I was away, a lot of things happened in the soccer world. Let’s start by mentioning that the United States Men’s National Team fired Jurgen Klinsmann and re-hired former US coach and then current LA Galaxy coach, Bruce Arena.
As a soccer fan and proud American, I am not quite sure how i feel about the hiring. I almost feel like the United States didn’t have a better option than Klinsmann and that Bruce Arena was a step down. Jurgen was very good at identifying talent, especially from dual citizens. We will see how Bruce Arena approaches the national team this time, as he calls in his first squad in January to prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers in March, where the United States is currently last out of 6 teams to qualify for the WC.
MLS Cup happened over the weekend. We saw Jordan Morris, Ozzie Alonso, and the Seattle Sounders take the Cup in dramatic fashion over Jozy Altidore, Michael Bradley, and Toronto FC. I won’t go into too much detail, but you should watch the highlights here.
Lastly, I’ll touch up on the Champions League Draw:
Tough draw for Arsenal. They have drawn Bayern Munich 3 out of the past 4 years in critical stages in the UCL. Manchester City has a great chance of advancing as the play Monaco. Barcelona vs PSG could be an interesting one. Leicester City have a beatable opponent as well. In my opinion, The Champions League is wide open this year. I’m excited to see how this plays out!
That does it for me, sorry it took me a couple of months to get back to you guys. You know how college goes. I don’t really care if you’re mad at me or not.
