NBC’s reality show juggernaut, America’s Got Talent, is now in its 12th season, and it’s better than ever! With more original acts, higher stakes and a new host in Tyra Banks, this season has revamped the show and brought it to new heights.
I have never watched AGT before this season, really just seeing the occasional video on Facebook. The level of talent this season, however, has peaked my interest, so I decided to give the show a shot.
Now a word of warning, this is MY top 5 performances, so this list is based off MY personal interests and reactions, not solely off popularity with the general public. With that being said, let’s begin!
#5: Dancing Pumpkin Man
I start my list off with this brought-to-life meme. The Dancing Pumpkin Man, made famous by Omaha, Nebraska’s local news station KXVO back in 2006 (as seen here), decided to take his internet-loving talents to prime time. With his hilarious moves and interesting mannerisms, this act is destined for huge success…or failure; depends on who you ask.
#4: The Singing Trump
Donald Trump signing and dancing, what’s not to love?! Trump is huuuuugggggeeee in today’s world, whether it’s for political or comedic reasons. No matter how you feel about the real one, this Trump impersonator will make you laugh and dance along with him to Bruno Mars’ smash hit “24K Magic.”
#3: Light Balance
If you’re looking for the most unique act this season, Light Balance is just that. This group, originally from the Ukraine, wowed me with their glowing outfits and mix of techno and hip-hop dance moves. They may not be number one on this list, but watch out for Light Balance to win the entire competition, you heard it here first.
#2: Angelica Hale
The adorable Angelica Hale walks out on stage and faces the judges and crowd with a smile on her face. She then goes on to tell the judges that she will be the next Whitney Houston. Bold statement, right? It won’t be after you hear Angelica’s amazing voice! In what might be the most beautiful rendition of Andra Day’s “Rise Up” I’ve ever heard, this 9-year-old girl from Atlanta, GA stole audiences’ hearts and made them ask, “Where is her golden buzzer?”
#1: Darci Lynne Farmer & Petunia
Speaking of golden buzzer performances, here is the best of the best. Darci Lynne and her puppet Petunia blew audiences away with her use of ventriloquism in singing Ella Fitzgerald’s “Summertime”. There are no words to fully describe how great she was. Let’s briefly go over her performance:
- Amazing vocals? … Check!
- Super cute? … Absolutely!
- Unique and shear talent, from a 12-year-old?! … You better believe it!
I get goosebumps every time I watch this video, which is probably over 100 times at this point. This is leaps and bounds better than anything Jeff Dunham has ever done, so can we go ahead and hand Darci the grand-prize?
Did I leave any of your favorite performances out? Let me know in the comments below or hit us up on social media. With two audition episodes to go, will anyone have what it takes to join this prestigious list? Tune in to NBC on Tuesday nights to see for yourself.
Until next time, c ya, and remember:
